The inspiration behind the Catalina collection is to combine details and features offered in aviation and diving watches similar to the characteristics of the Catalina TP 47 seaplane. By balancing aviation and diving, a unique and clear design is created that is easy to understand and easy to use.
The twist on the Catalina is cast in stainless steel with raised and recessed numerals and indices. The solid construction makes the turning ring less sensitive to impacts and shocks. A rougher grip surface makes the turning ring easier to use with gloves and it only rotates to the left like classic diving watches.
The design of the dial takes details and inspiration from classic pilot's watches and the Catalina's cockpit. The iconic arrow found in classic Flieger watches is positioned at 12 o'clock and is raised 0.8mm from the dial. Together with the other indexes, it has been filled with Swiss Super LumiNova C1 luminous mass, which is charged when exposed to light during the day and glows with green light in the dark. The watch's subdials are inspired by the instruments in the cockpit. Furthermore, a clear, round date window has been placed at 6 o'clock.
Hour and minute hands have a classic look with a so-called skeletonized design so as not to cover an unnecessary amount of the dial and its subdials. Large areas of luminescent material have been applied to the front part and tip of the hands and make the watch easy to read in a stressful environment.
